Get to know the neighbourhood you are staying in. Being Amsterdam's most multicultural area you will have lots to discover, only 15 minutes walking from the campsite! Only by crossing the bridge you will find yourself in the beautiful Flevopark connected to the outdoor swimming pool, Flevoparkbad, for a refreshing swim.Studio K is a new booming place in the neighbourhood. Operating mainly as an independent cinema and bar/restaurant, which hosts frequent filmfestivals and always serves drinks & good food. They also host parties, clubnights and gigs, making it definitely worthwhile to stop by, day or night! The Muiderpoort theater focuses on stimulating dance as podium art, hosting dance shows, workshops and classes. The main shopping street in the area (Javastraat & Eerste van Swindestraat) starts at Javaplein and will take you all the way to the Oosterpark where you can relax. But before heading straight there, halfway you will find the Dappermarket 'Best daily street market in the Netherlands 2007&2008'. At the end of the street connected to the Oosterpark is the Tropical museum located in one of the finest buildings in Amsterdam, showing permanent and changing exhibitions over countries & cultures. This museum displays and educates in an interactive way, with games puzzeles etc. which is ideal and fun for kids and adults.
Heading further east you will enter the district called Watergraafsmeer, a beautiful, quiet and friendly residential neighbourhood with astonishing houses, have a drink at café 1900 or relax in the park, Frankendael.
