IJburg & Beach

The Dutch have a long history of creating land in water, IJburg is yet another example. Six years ago there was only sea water, now we have a new neighbourhood to explore. Separated by water from the campsite the IJburg district is being constructed on six artificial islands of dredged sand in the IJmeer. With the construction of 18.000 homes IJburg will be completed around 2015, giving home to about 45.000 people.
Interesting new businesses are opening their doors one after another. Stop by the theater/restaurant Vrijburcht or the delicious Italian restaurant Bloem.

IJburg is definitely worth visiting for its interesting, modern architecture, amazing views over the water and to enjoy the Blijburg beach. To discover these new islands, take off from the camping by foot, bike or kayak!
